Gavin McDonald’s research focuses on using data to better understand and address global environmental and social challenges, particularly surrounding global fisheries. After beginning his career as a mechanical engineer, he decided to go back to school to follow his lifelong passion for the environment, graduating from the Bren School’s MESM program. He now works at Environmental Markets Lab (emLab), a research "think-and-do" tank based at the Bren School and Marine Science Institute. He is also a PADI Divemaster and AAUS Scientific Diver.
