Christopher Hayes is interested in the structure, function and physiology of specialized secretion systems that mediate inter-bacterial conflict. Because these toxin-delivery systems readily penetrate bacterial cell envelopes, they are of considerable interest for the development of novel approaches to antimicrobial therapy.
