Tyler Susko
Vice chair of undergraduate mechanical engineering, Tyler Susko teaches 9 courses in engineering design at UC Santa Barbara, including the mechanical engineering capstone course. He advises approximately 40 student engineering design projects per year, including those associated with Lab d4H (design for humans), the Isla Vista elementary school robot outreach program and the UCSB Hyperloop Team. He was the creator of the MIT-Skywalker Gamma prototype, a rehabilitation robot specifically designed for people with gait impairment due to neurological injury. His industry experience includes the design of an award-winning power tool and small vehicles for Ingersoll Rand. He holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from MIT, a Master of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University and a Bachelor of Science in integrated business and engineering from Lehigh University.
