Professor
Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology
Susan Mazer studies the mechanisms by which plants adapt to the ecological risks and opportunities that they encounter and the genetic constraints that influence or impede these outcomes. She uses quantitative genetic, specimen-based, ecological, and comparative approaches in the field, greenhouse, and lab in order to test predictions concerning the outcome of natural selection in a wide variety of species and plant communities, ranging from South American tropical rainforests to the Sierra Nevada and Coastal Ranges of California.
