Liming Zhang aims to develop new techniques for synthesizing a range of different compounds, particularly via catalytic platforms. By developing efficient and selective synthetic processes, he hopes to make large arrays of chemical structures accessible and feasible for use in science, industry, medicine and technology. Some of his group’s avenues of research include gold catalysis and carbohydrate synthesis.
