Shelly joined the communications team at UC Santa Barbara in 2012. She previously worked more than a decade as a journalist for news outlets across California, covering primarily education, in addition to brief stints on the overnight desk at a Bay Area-based wire service, with a trade journal for the PR industry, and at a magazine about the San Francisco rental market. She later spent four years researching and writing about consumer trends for a leading global advertising agency based in Los Angeles. Shelly is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara.
