Yes, there is such a thing as a free lunch — if you are a UC Santa Barbara staff member, that is. The campus kicked off Staff Celebration Week on Friday, May 9, with the Chancellor’s Staff Celebration Luncheon on the Faculty Club Green. Attendees were treated to a buffet-style lunch featuring barbecued chicken, vegetarian lasagna, salad and cookies. For the adventurous, a rock wall tower was on hand to test people’s climbing skills while those who preferred to keep their feet on the ground perused the plants and ceramics available for sale. Chancellor Henry T. Yang acknowledged the contributions of the multitude of staff members to the success of the university, and presented plaques to members recognized for their excellence, as well as to graduates of a supervisory program. The luncheon was one of a series of events taking place from May 9-16.
