UCSB Move-In Operations: Wednesday, 9/16 through Sunday, 9/20

Below is information about the upcoming UCSB Move-In operations that will impact parking in several campus areas beginning Wednesday, September 16 and continuing through Sunday, September 20. Due to the high volume of vehicles on campus, traffic congestion will be noticeably higher throughout these five days.

Several campus parking lots will be closed and reserved for the Move-In operations in order to safely and efficiently move in thousands of students.

Parking lots adjacent to UCSB off campus apartments and residence halls:

Wednesday, September 16 through Friday, September 18

  • Parking Lots 60 (Staff Lot), 58 and 59 (Santa Catalina) will be closed for Move-In Operations. Lot 65 will be available for staff working the event.

Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20

  • Parking Lots 60 (Staff Lot), 65 (Sierra Madre), 58 and 59 (Santa Catalina) will be closed for Move-In Operations. Staff are requested to park in alternate locations at Lot 57 (Santa Ynez), 41 and 42 (Devereux / Orfalea).

Parking lots on the main UCSB campus:

Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20

  • East Campus Parking Lots 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 will be closed. Please note that Parking lots 2 and 9 are already closed due to the Channel Islands Apartments and Santa Rosa construction project. Very limited staff/faculty parking will be available in Parking Lot 1. Parking Structure 10 will be heavily impacted.

It is recommended you avoid the Channel Islands Halls (Anacapa, San Miguel, Santa Cruz, and San Nicolas) due to heavy traffic.

  • Parking Lot 23, near The Club and Guest House, will be closed.  Parents picking up/dropping off children will be allowed to access lot 23. Parking Structure 22 will be heavily impacted.

Parking Lots 16 and Mesa 18 (University Plaza) will also be impacted by extended-term parking for families participating in the Move-In activities as well as Athletic Events.

Additionally, Parking in Lot 30 will be restricted all day Thursday, September 17 and Sunday, September 20 in preparation for a UCSB men’s soccer games.

We recommend avoiding travel to campus during this period of time if possible.

Housing, Dining & Auxiliary Enterprises is committed to providing a smooth and welcoming Move-In weekend for our new students.  We appreciate your patience throughout this event.
