The book, “Learning Newton’s Calculus" (World Scientific, 2026), grew out of Bibilashvili’s PHYS 8 course, which prepares incoming majors who need a stronger foundation in calculus. Unable to find a textbook introduced the subject the way it is actually used in physics, he developed his own materials with help from four UCSB Physics students. After several years of refining the text, PHYS 8 students are using the published book for the first time this fall.
