UCSB’s School Psychology Ph.D. Program Rated in Top 10
The School Psychology Ph.D. program in UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz Graduate School of Education has been ranked No. 10 in the nation by a website that tracks counseling degrees in the U.S.
“It is an honor to see the UCSB program ranked among the top 10 school psychology programs in the nation,” said Shane Jimerson, chair of the campus’s Department of Counseling, Clinical and School Psychology (CCSP). “The program faculty and students are certainly among the best in the world. The research and leadership contributions of the UCSB school psychology faculty and students continue to bring great distinctions and benefit diverse populations of children across the country and around the world.”
The CCSP prepares its doctoral candidates for academic and research positions and to provide psychological services. The program’s comprehensive approach grounds students in the skills and knowledge that are both common and unique to counseling, clinical and school psychology.
The rating website, bestcounselingdegrees.net, uses a variety of benchmarks to rank doctoral programs in school psychology. Only schools accredited by the American Psychological Society and approved by the National Association of School Psychologists were eligible for consideration. From that list of 58 schools, each program’s pass rate for the Examination for Professional Practice of Psychology (EPPP) was assessed. Programs were ranked based on their EPPP pass rate.
