The recently reopened –– and renamed –– Art, Design & Architecture Museum at UC Santa Barbara is the focus of an upcoming special event presented by UCSB Affiliates.
Museum acting director Bruce Robertson, curator of exhibitions Elyse Gonzales, and curator of architecture and design Joceyln Gibbs will provide an intimate tour of the renovated museum's current exhibits, and present a talk about the new facility and the museum's community programs, on Wednesday, May 16, at 5:30 p.m.
The event will be held at the Art, Design & Architecture Museum, adjacent to the University Center on the UCSB campus. Admission is $10. Advance registration is recommended by calling the UCSB Office of Public Events at (805) 893-2877. Limited parking is available in Lot 3, on UCen Road, for $3.
Formerly known as University Art Museum, the renovated Art, Design & Architecture Museum opened in February with two Getty-sponsored exhibits, "Carefree California: Cliff May and the Romance of the Ranch House" and "Catherine Opie Photographs Cliff May." Both were part of Getty's ongoing initiative "Pacific Standard Time," a collaborative effort with arts institutions across Southern California.
UCSB Affiliates aims to develop and strengthen relationships between the campus and greater Santa Barbara area groups and individuals by offering an array of educational and cultural events and lectures featuring UCSB faculty.
