Federal Reserve Banker to Keynote Ventura County 2010 Economic Outlook Seminar Presented by UCSB

A top official of the Federal Reserve Bank system will be the keynote speaker at this month's Ventura County economic outlook event presented by the UC Santa Barbara Economic Forecast Project.

Howard J. Wall, vice president and director of the Center for Regional Economics for the 8th District at the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis, will speak on "The Real Demographics of Recession" at the Friday, February 19, event. The program, which will examine the prospects for Ventura County's economy in the year ahead, will also feature two experts from Beacon Economics, the state's premier economic forecast firm.

The event will be held at the Padre Serra Center, 5205 Upland Road, Camarillo (a new location for this program). Registration and breakfast begin at 7 a.m.; the program starts at 8 a.m. and will conclude by 11 a.m.

The UC Santa Barbara Economic Forecast Project is a research unit that provides regional economic data, analysis, and forecasts to the community.

·Chris Thornberg, Founding Principal, Beacon Economics, and chief forecaster for California State Controller John Chiang: "The U.S. and California Economies"

·Brad Kemp, Director of Regional Research, Beacon Economics: "Ventura County Forecast"

·Dan Walters, syndicated newspaper columnist: "State of the State"

Henry Dubroff, editor and chairman of the Pacific Coast Business Times, will serve as moderator of the question-and-answer portion of the program.

Admission to the seminar is $110 per person until February 12, and $125 per person after that date. The registration fee includes a copy of "The 2010 Ventura County Economic Outlook" publication.
